A Fuzzy Cyber-Risk Analysis Model for Assessing Attacks on the Availability and Integrity of the Military Command and Control Systems

چکیده
The increasing complexity in Military Command and Control (C2) systems has led to greater vulnerability due to system availability and integrity caused by internal vulnerabilities and external threats. Several studies have proposed measures of availability and integrity for the assets in the C2 systems using precise and certain measures (i.e., the exact number of attacks on the availability and the integrity, the number of countermeasures for the availability and integrity attacks, the effectiveness of the availability and integrity countermeasure in eliminating the threats, and the financial impact of each attack on the availability and integrity of the assets). However, these measures are often uncertain in real-world problems. The source of uncertainty can be vagueness or ambiguity. Fuzzy logic and fuzzy sets can represent vagueness and ambiguity by formalizing inaccuracies inherent in human decisionmaking. In this paper, the authors extend the risk assessment literature by including fuzzy measures for the number of attacks on the availability and the integrity, the number of countermeasures for the availability and integrity attacks, and the effectiveness of the availability and integrity countermeasure in eliminating these threats. They analyze the financial impact of each attack on the availability and integrity of the assets and propose a comprehensive cyber-risk assessment system for the Military C2 in the fuzzy environment. A deterministic risk analysis and measurement model for assessing availability and integrity in command and control systems
Abstract: Military command and control (C2) systems are increasingly challenged by a host of modern problems, namely, internal vulnerabilities and external threats. Several approaches have been suggested in the literature to measure availability and integrity in C2 systems. Despite the importance of developing and maintaining self-protecting and self-healing processes, the simultaneous consider...
متن کاملAn Effective Attack-Resilient Kalman Filter-Based Approach for Dynamic State Estimation of Synchronous Machine
Kalman filtering has been widely considered for dynamic state estimation in smart grids. Despite its unique merits, the Kalman Filter (KF)-based dynamic state estimation can be undesirably influenced by cyber adversarial attacks that can potentially be launched against the communication links in the Cyber-Physical System (CPS). To enhance the security of KF-based state estimation, in this paper...

Introduction: Military nurses are at the frontline of responding to disasters. Incident command system is a managerial structure which is used to control and Disaster risk reduction. Military nurses preparedness in the ICS area during Covid-19 pandemic could affect their performance in the response phase. Aim: the aim of this study was to evaluate nurse’s readiness in selected military hospita...
متن کاملAn Authorization Framework for Database Systems
Today, data plays an essential role in all levels of human life, from personal cell phones to medical, educational, military and government agencies. In such circumstances, the rate of cyber-attacks is also increasing. According to official reports, data breaches exposed 4.1 billion records in the first half of 2019. An information system consists of several components, which one of the most im...
متن کاملStability analysis and feedback control of T-S fuzzy hyperbolic delay model for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay
In this paper, a new T-S fuzzy hyperbolic delay model for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay, is presented to address the problems of stability analysis and feedback control. Fuzzy controller is designed based on the parallel distributed compensation (PDC), and with a new Lyapunov function, delay dependent asymptotic stability conditions of the closed-loop system are derived v...
